Very rare California Surf Map circa late 1960's to early 1970's. Apparently produced to support a sales promotion. The map at center is surrounded by photo illustrations of popular California surfing locations. Each location contains a brief description of when to expect the best surfing conditions. For example: "MISSION BEACH Typical beach surf winter and summer. Less crowded than Pacific Beach. Takes all swells with south and west swells preferred. 2 - 6 feet ht."
Surfing locations identified on the map include, from bottom right moving clockwise:
- Mission Beach
- Pacific Beach
- Leucadia
- Oceanside
- San Clemente
. . .
- Manhattan Beach
- Malibu
- Ventura
- Staley's
- Rincon

(1) http://archive.surfingheritage.org/2015/02/vintage-map-of-california-surf-spots.htmlThis matches the style and form of Roy Kemp, a known photographer active in New Orleans during the mid-20th century. Kemp specialized in nightclub and glamour photography, producing promotional shots for performers at venues like the 500 Club, Sho-Bar, and other Bourbon Street establishments.
Kemp was one of a small number of photographers who documented the burlesque and cabaret scenes in New Orleans.
His work often appeared uncredited in postcard sets, handbills, and matchbooks from clubs on Bourbon Street.
His signature typically appears in the lower corner of images, either in stylized cursive or block letters.
