DESCRIPTION: lustrated advertising card for C. E. Hall & Co., dated Beachmont, January 1, 1886, announcing an on-demand public carriage service to and from the railroad depot. The notice offers transportation from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 25 cents per passenger, with orders accepted by the station master, at Stowers, at F. T. Littlefield's store, or at the firm's Washington Square office.
The lower portion features a color illustration of a three-masted steamship, with furled sails and flags flying, against a pale green sea and sky. Additional text advertises service for later trains, light express work and the transportation of trunks at reasonable prices. An example of local transportation advertising linking railroad passengers with carriage and baggage services in nineteenth-century Beachmont.
