DESCRIPTION: Small beautifully detailed etching of a large Dutch three-masted merchant Hoeker running before the wind. From a series of 84 engravings published in seven volumes from 1787 to 1791 by Gerritt Groenewegen (1754 - 1826): "Verscheide soorten van Hollandse Vaartuigen". Note the gaff-rigged mizzen-mast, the long steering tiller, and clothes drying above the cabin.

On chain-laid paper with a fleur-de-lis watermark. From volume C, number 8.
