DESCRIPTION: Steel-plate line engraving depicting a triple-decked ship-of-the-line and some of the rigging and equipment with special emphasis on blocks, tackle, and armament. From Georg Heck's "Iconographic Encyclopedia" published by Rudolph Garrigue in New York in 1851. Cool!

Johann Georg Heck (1795 - 1857) was a German bookseller and publisher, lithographer, and cartographer. Heck's works include: "The art of building in ancient and modern times, or, architecture illustrated."; "Iconographic encyclopaedia of science, literature, and art. (Six volumes)"; "Illustrations to mathematics and astronomy"; and "The sciences, or, Chemistry, mineralogy, and geology illustrated."
