DESCRIPTION: Unrecorded map of Elizabeth, New Jersey by Ernest L. Meyer and W.F. Wonneberg from 1871. Single sheet, apparently the bottom half of a two-sheet map. Published two years before an earthquake, in September 1873, caused a panic that led to a recession. Ernest L. Meyer C.E. was City Surveyor for Elizabeth, N.J.

Engraved by J. Schedler. No. 60 Fulton Street, N.Y. Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1871 by Ernest L. Meyer and W.F. Wonneberg in the Office of the Librarian of Congress at Washington D.C.

Meyer also published a "Map of Elizabethtown, N.J. at the time of the Revolutionary War"; a smaller "Map of the City of Elizabeth, N.J.", 1856; and with P. Witzel in 1862, the "Topographical Map of Union County, New Jersey".

Includes two ink stamps: John G. Saurwein, Attorney at Law, Elizabeth, N.J.; and James Vosseller.
