Johann Doppelmayr (1677-1750) was a Professor of Mathematics in Nuremberg and a member of the Royal Society of London. He wrote on astronomy, geography, cartography, spherical trigonometry, and scientific instruments, and collaborated in the production of terrestrial and celestial globes. Later edition.

Doppelmayr prepared a number of astronomical and cosmological plates that appeared in several works by cartographer Johann Baptist Homann. In 1742, these plates were issued as the "Atlas Novus Coelestis".
